Who gave us the clearest imagery of Hell?
Jesus Christ.
Our parents.
Hollywood.
Preachers.
God and Heaven fit so well together because:
God’s throne is in heaven.
The angles live in heaven.
A loving God would want us to live out eternity with himself in a very beautiful place.
Other religions have a final destination much like heaven.
Reincarnation does not make sense because:
God is a loving father.
God did not make a mistake when he made humans and reincarnation is refuted in Hebrews.
God has made numerous ways to reach us and have a relationship with him.
Humans never finally just get it right and live a sinless life.
How many arguments against and for the existence of heaven did the authors of our text book PHOCA give us:
10 top arguments with most discussing how no one would really want to go to heaven.
14 arguments with most indicating that other religions have a similar place like heaven which means that it was all made up by man.
15 arguments with most being circular and more like riddles.
17 arguments with varied themes like the existence of heaven cannot be proven or that the thought of heaven is a distraction from the fact of death and the problems in our current lives, and that Christians are like mercenaries doing whatever they can do to earn heaven.
Why do many think much more about heaven than hell:
Heaven is a beautiful place and we all innately long to be there.
Hell is an awful place where we are forever separated from God.
Heaven is a reward and hell is a punishment.
All of the above.
How many arguments against and for hell got discussed in our lesson notes:
10 top arguments with most discussing physical hell.
5 arguments against and for the existence of hell because that is all Christ gave us.
13 arguments with the common theme being that Christ was not a liar and he came to save us from this eventual punishment for all unrepentant sinners.
17 arguments that parallel the arguments for the existence of heaven.
What are some of the appropriate uses for the doctrine of hell given in our lesson notes:
It is to let people know that hell is the eventual outcome of sin when man rejects God, and when he does not repent and accept the free gift of Jesus.
Hell is an actual place that we all wish to avoid.
We should not use the doctrine of hell to control and dominate people but to inform and protect them.
All of the above.
